About us

A neighborhood classic since 2007, we're your cheerful and lively all-day restaurant, serving seasonally inspired plates that celebrate Midwestern roots.

Featuring shim cocktails and a thoughtful wine list, perfectly paired with our fresh takes on local and farm-to-fork standards. 

Monday, JULY 31 - fermentation pop-up

Blackbird is partnering with our friends at GYST to bring you a five course wine dinner celebrating fermentation! Our Head Chef Peter Lutz will be incorporating GYST's ferments throughout the dinner to spread the word about fermented foods and the ways in which they enhance the profiles of more familiar flavors. Sarina Garibovic of Blackbird and Mel Guse of GYST are working together to pair each dish with natural wine for a complete fermentation experience. Reservations are available online or by phone. $65 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.

Three Things I Can't Live Without
(1) My baseball cap collection - all of my hats have a "P" on them.
(2) Portable bluetooth speaker.  Every cook in our kitchen has one, because we all like to listen to our own thing, which can get a little ridiculous.
(3) It's a Tie:  Ace Hardware - where else can you get canning supplies and cat food under one roof?  Cinco de Mayo Mercado - where else can you get pig's trotters and fresh tortillas under one roof?
